2018 Md. Media State Poll (Week 1)

The private schools are clustered at and near the top of the rankings, and this is the week of truth.

No. 3 DeMatha takes on perennial 3A challenger and No. 21 Franklin, and No. 20 Calvert Hall gets a shot at three-time defending 4A champ Wise.

A private school sweep will reinforce the ranking of so many private schools. However, a public school sweep would restore the image and return the rankings in the MPSSAA’s favor.

All teams in the preseason Top 25 either played and won or had games postponed due to the rain. In any case, it meant little change — only a flip at No. 25 with Lackey joining the group at North Point’s expense.
