2018 Md. Media State Poll (Week 8)

Finally, a newcomer.

Glenelg breaks into the Top 25 right after star running back Wande Owens broke a Howard County rushing record.

Owens became Howard County’s all-time leading rusher last week and his career total stands at 5,282 yards. A spot in the state all-time Top 5 is possible with a strong regular season finish (No. 5 is 5,650 by Isiaha Smith of South Hagerstown). A deep playoff run could even get Owens a shot at No. 2 Ben Tate’s 5,920, behind seemingly impossible-to-beat Tavon Austin from Dunbar, who rushed for 7,962 yards. Austin and Tate, who played at Stephen Decatur before finishing at Snow Hill, ended up in the NFL.

The other significant move came as a result of Georgetown Prep handling Landon. The win sends the Little Hoyas to No. 10, which caused some other teams to slide down a spot.

Here’s the rest of the Top 25 …
