2019 Md. Media State Poll (Week 1)
There’s only one new team in the Top 25 this week, and it should be a bit of an eye-opener.
After upsetting former No. 8 Georgetown Prep, Loyola checks into the Top 25 at No. 16 — one spot ahead of Georgetown Prep.
For Loyola, it’s been quite a journey back to the Top 25. This longtime MIAA (formerly MSA) program recently dropped MIAA A competition out after becoming non-competitive. Now, following a one-sided win over Gilman and a victory over a Top 10 program, Loyola is back in the Top 25 for the first time since Week 6 of 2011.
Elsewhere, the rankings were largely unchanged. St. Frances remains the state No. 1 and gets a crack to become a national No. 1 with a showdown this week with Mater Dei (Calif.).
Now on with the Top 25 …
