2019 Md. Media State Poll (Week 7)

After weeks of waiting in the wings, South River and Paint Branch join the Top 25 this week.

But then again, what’s a little wait for teams that seldom achieve this level?

South River checks in at No. 24, which marks its first time in the rankings since Week 10 of 1991 — back when the state poll was only 15 teams. Paint Branch, this week’s No. 25, is in the rankings for the first time since 2013.

The clash of state-ranked teams last week resulted in quite a shuffle.

McDonogh, powered by a win over Mount St. Joseph, moves to No. 2 after DeMatha and Good Counsel both took losses to D.C. opponents. Good Counsel stays at No. 3, while DeMatha is No. 4. DeMatha and Good Counsel clash this week.

Quince Orchard moves up to No. 5, making it the highest-ranked public school program and the first public school in the Top 5 this season.

Now on with the Top 25 …
