When only three of the Top 25 teams lose -- and two of them to higher-ranked opponents -- the net result is very little movement.

Such was the case this past week in the Maryland Media State Poll. The only newcomer to this week's Top 25 is Middletown, replacing St. Charles. The other 24 teams were ranked last week, including the first nine holding the exact same order.

Looking ahead, this week features several key ranking showdowns, headlined by No. 2 DeMatha’s annual WCAC clash with No. 6 Good Counsel. Meanwhile, Sherwood faces No. 4 Quince Orchard, Huntingtown takes on No. 9 North Point, and Oakdale meets No. 10 Linganore — three matchups that offer each of those teams just outside the Top 25 a prime opportunity to play their way into the rankings.
