2022 Md. Media State Poll (Preseason)

It’s one state poll — but really quite a divide.

There’s a collection of private schools taking on a national schedule and holding almost all of the Top 10 state positions. Then there are some very good public schools that will be battling it out for the various state titles. Fortunately, there will be some public-private crossover games to help make sense of the state Top 25.

It’s no surprise that St. Frances tops the state rankings. St. Frances took over sole position of No. 1 in Week 5 of the 2017 season and has held that spot every week since — a staggering run of 44 straight weeks, including the 2022 preseason poll. Good Counsel and DeMatha, a pair of WCAC powers, hold the 2 and 3 spots. MIAA A Conference teams fill in several of the Top 10 spots with Calvert Hall at 4, Mount St. Joseph at 6, Spalding at 7 and McDonogh at 9.

Quince Orchard, the defending 4A state champ, starts at No. 5, making it the highest-ranked public school

Now on with the rest of the full Top 25 …
